Police in Crystal say unique footprints left in the snow helped them identify a suspected burglar.
According to the criminal complain, Dianta Halbert kicked in the door on a home in Crystal on February 24th and stole a watch, a gold ring and an iPad.
While investigating, police noticed unique v-shaped prints in the snow. As police continued their investigation, Halbert returned to the scene. Crystal Police Chief John Banick says police engaged Halbert in conversation, “While talking to him, ironically, one of the items that was stolen in the burglary drops out of his pocket or out of his hand and onto the ground.” The item, a watch, matched the description of one of the stolen items. But that wasn’t the only match.
Halbert’s boots created the same unique v-shaped print as the prints police reported seeing around the victim’s home
According to Chief Banick, “In this case, the tracks did help make the case because the were so identifiable and he left quite a few of them at the scene.”
A “chevron” pattern is unique? I’m guessing that equates to a “V shaped” pattern. The “chevron” pattern is VERY common on boot soles.
The idiots job on showing the loot to police (by accident or stupidity) makes it laughable. He deserved to be caught.
