This latest blast of snow is welcome weather for the 9th annual City of Lakes Loppet.
Organizers say the snow this winter helped boost registration by 50 percent this year ahead of last year.
Some 10,000 skiers are expected to turn out for the event from at least 25 states and four countries.
According to a formula from “Meet Minneapolis,” the crowds translate into $5-million spent on restaurants, parking, transportation and hotels in the metro.
The Loppet runs this Saturday and Sunday and is spread across a number of locations around Minneapolis. For times and locations of each event click here
